Installing, managing, and removing software

Setting up and administering an install server

An install server allows you to ``stage'' software so that other systems in your network can perform a network installation of UnixWare or of specific packages.

NOTE: Licensing terms and conditions might limit the distribution and installation of software. Before performing the procedures in this section, local policies must be in place to prevent violation of the licensing terms. Contact your system administrator to ensure that your planned use of these procedures are in accordance with those policies.

The following procedures are provided to set up and administer the UnixWare network installation capabilities:

Once an operating system product is added to an install server and the install server is enabled, you can use the install server to perform a network installation of additional systems on your network. For details on performing a network installation of UnixWare, see the Getting Started Guide.

Once an add-on package is added to an install server and the install server is enabled, other systems in your network can install these packages from your install server. For details on installing these packages, see ``Installing software (Application Installer)''.
