nis.conf(4nis)

nis.conf -- NIS configuration file

Synopsis

/etc/inet/nis.conf

Description

The nis.conf file contains variable declarations that define the NIS configuration of a system. These variable are sourced in by the NIS startup scripts, /etc/rc2.d/S51domain and /etc/rc2.d/S80nis (linked to /etc/init.d/nis).

When configuring NIS, ypinit(1Mnis) creates the nis.conf file if it does not already exist. Is the file is removed, NIS is not started when the system is next rebooted.

startypbind
