What happens when EELS starts

The EELS environment consists of an EELS daemon and one or more Real Time Logging Source Processor (RTLSP) processes. The number of RTLSPs is dictated by the configuration blocks in /etc/default/eels (see eels_config(4eels)). One RTLSP process is started for each valid real-time-import configuration block.

The EELS daemon (eelsd(1Meels)) is started by a script in /etc/rc2.d that is executed whenever the system goes into multi-user state (init state 2). The daemon performs the following tasks:

• starts the EELS database

• spawns RTLSPs

• handles distributed logging connection requests

• handles script execution

• handles alarm generation

• handles automatic log archival

• handles dynamic log import
