System-defined words

The UnixWare system uses a number of special words to identify system resources, user and group names, process IDs, peripherals, and other information. The following should be specified only with characters from the primary code set:

Although the following can be specified with supplementary code set characters, we recommend against it: The following can be specified with primary or supplementary code set characters, subject to length limitations imposed by the file system: File name prefixes of the form s., or suffixes of the form .c, must be specified with characters from the primary code set.
