Using the UDK

Packaging compatibility modules with your application

To enable a binary compiled by the UDK tools to run correctly on SCO OpenServer Release 5 or SCO UnixWare 2.1.X you must first install the appropriate UDK Compatibility Module for the target system. The compatibility modules consist of shared libraries, configuration files, locale files, and a few commands. They provide the necessary interface between the UDK binary and the native system.

The compatibility modules may be installed independently of any other UDK packages, and may be installed on a wider range of platforms than the UDK tools themselves. See ``UDK on SCO UnixWare 2.1.X'' and ``UDK on SCO OpenServer''.

Besides being included on the UDK media, the compatibility modules are available for download from the Developer's Place.

Licensees of the UDK can also include the OSRcompat and UW2compat compatibility modules in an application's package set so that users can install the compatibility modules with the UDK-developed application. For a discussion of software packaging, see ``Packaging your software applications''.
