Functional overview

Mail processing filters

UnixWare supports MMDF-compatible .maildelivery files. The file $HOME/.maildelivery is a user-configurable file allowing all incoming mail to be processed according to the user's specification. Common uses of .maildelivery include:

Sorting can be done by pattern matching against any message header. For example, if you belong to an alias called engr, a .maildelivery entry can be specified to match the To header for engr, and automatically put any such message into a folder called myfolders/engr.mail.

sendmail provides the $HOME/.forward file, which has similar functionality.

For more information, see the manual pages for maildelivery(4) and forward(4).
