Installing software

You can install software from media or from an installation server, using either the Application Installer or command-line tools. To install software from an installation server, the server must already be configured. See ``Setting up and administering an install server'' for more information.

Topics describe how to:

• Install software interactively with the Application Installer, the recommended way to install add-on software to the UnixWare system.

• Install software interactively with pkgadd(1M), a command-line equivalent to the Application Installer procedure.

• Install software non-interactively with pkgadd(1M). This procedure allows for unattended installations, but might require you to modify installation files before proceeding.

• Install software from an installation server using pkginstall(1M) or NFS. The standard way to perform these tasks is to use the Application Installer.

• Spool packages, which allows you to store packages on your system for future installation.
