Configuring audio adapters

Playing audio CDs from your CD-ROM drive

If your CD-ROM drive has external start and stop controls:

  1. Use mixer(1) to set the sound source and volume level.

  2. Press the Play button on your CD-ROM drive.

If your CD-ROM drive does not have external controls, you must have additional software to control your drive for audio reproduction. Skunkware includes Xmcd, an excellent audio CD control utility; other applications are available commercially and through freeware.
