Testing and debugging MDI drivers

Installing MDI drivers for testing

MDI drivers should be installed for testing using the same facilities that will be used to install the production driver when it is released. Creating and testing the installation components along with the driver code saves time and leads to more robust driver packages. Ideally, the customer documentation about how to install the driver should be drafted when the testing begins and used for the test installs to insure that it is complete and accurate.

The following information describes some additional tricks that are useful during the test/debug cycle.
