Dual-ported memory

Dual-ported memory is a hardware term that refers to memory that appears both as device memory on the card and host memory. Originally, this appeared as two sets of address pins on a memory chip. Most current devices use more of a bus-style facility for dual-ported memory.

See ``Memory-mapped I/O'' for information about how to map the memory from a dual-ported card into system memory and implement I/O operations that use this memory.
