Starting and stopping the system

Using the haltsys and reboot commands

The haltsys(1M) and reboot(1M) commands stop the system immediately, without warning users. The haltsys readies the system for shutting down. while the reboot command restarts the system, If there are any users logged into the system when either command is given, they are logged out and their work in progress is lost.

To stop the system with these commands, log in as root and enter:

   haltsys
or
   reboot

The system displays the message:

       ** Safe to Power Off **
               -or-
    ** Press Any Key to Reboot **

Turn off the computer, or press any key to reboot the system.
